I am a pathetic loser....

Another school year begins all around me with all the little ivy league achievers starting classes, and once again I am not doing anything to advance myself. I am allowed one class per semester for free so I went to one that I liked today (an art class) and it was full so I couldn't take that. Science classes either don't excite me, or more often than not I feel like I can learn all the material by just reading the book. There doesn't seem to be a point in taking an esoteric class such as some kind of social science since that does nothing for either of my possible fields of study. And so I am a total pathetic unambitious loser. Now it's been three days since classes started and I feel like I missed the boat. Am hating on myself today.

you're not dead yet!
remember SOME of us don't have the opportunity to take classes. have you in fact missed this boat? can you start late?
why not take something just for the hell of it? so what if it does nothing for your fields? i would totally take a psychology course.

see what I mean? guilt trip! I don't want to take a freaking class but I have the choice, other people don't, so I can't just not take one. GAaah!

wait wait wait...
the whole reason you're complaining is that you have the opportunity but don't want it? see that's a whole other thing. don't take a class if you don't want to, but don't say "woe is me" for making that decision. i thought you were complaining that you didn't know what to take and therefore are a loser. who cares what other people think? even me!:)

I am a loser because I am not doing anything to improve my future, such as taking a class. I also can't find one that I want to take, which might be why I am not taking one, but I am still a loser.

I would say try the art class again - perhaps, someone has dropped out. Get on the wait list. Show the professor some of your work. He/she may think you are just taking it for fun, since you do not fit the profile of an art student being a bio lab tech. Play to the guy's ego - say it is your dream to take his class... It usually works.
