Under Construction

cue "Girl from Ipanema"

Well the blog is moved, but I didn't do it very well so the old blog does not redirect to the new one. I am working on fixing it, but it will probably take a while. Also, the look is being updated (very slowly) into something that will hopefully be really cool. My favorite features are: wider text area and an "older posts" button at the bottom of the page. And I see that I have no followers, which makes me a little sad but I'll get over it.

In the meantime, I thought I would show off this fun fellow. It's a yellow fly agaric (Amanita muscaria var. guessowii). Although I was raised under strict instructions not to eat this deadly poisonous mushroom, apparently some people use it for hallucinogenic/spiritual reasons. From what I heard, the process involves drinking the urine of a dedicated mushroom eater, since it will make you quite ill otherwise. Those Siberian shamans...

I made it out of polymer clay last fall while I was down with the flu from hell (sadly not the swine flu, otherwise I would at least be immune to it). I initially meant to do a whole family of little mushrooms, and maybe have them coming out of the bathroom wall. I may still do it one day, because it is such a cute idea, but I am a bit lazy so I gave up after one mushroom. Still, I am pretty proud with how realistic it turned out. It is built on a wire armature so I keep it in a flower pot at home, hoping for a comment from a visitor. So far - nothing. We'll wait and see :)
